Palladium Wedding Bands

Why Palladium Wedding Bands

Palladium is a great cost alternative to platinum and white gold  ring.  It is for the savvy shopper that wants the pure white look of platinum but knows that the properties of the two are so similar nobody will be able to tell the difference.  Platinum is heavier but the look will be the exact same.  Palladium rings will also wear exactly the same as platinum.  This means they will scratch the same and will hold up the same.

Palladium vs. White Gold

There really is no such thing as a white gold ring.  Gold by nature is yellow.  So to get a white gold ring you have to add different alloys to it.  The most popular alloy that is added to yellow gold to make it white is nickel.  A few other light allows are added too.  By adding these to the yellow gold you get a white ring.  The problem with this is over time the white will fade back to a yellow natural color.  So clearly palladium is a much better choice than white gold.

Palladium  vs. Platinum

What are the differences between the two?  They look almost the exact same.  In fact palladium is extracted when platinum is being mined.  Platinum is much heavier than palladium.  So that would be the only advantage or disadvantage as far as the ring itself goes.  Palladium rings are just a fraction of the cost of platinum rings.  So if you are looking to save money palladium is the way to go over platinum.

Palladium (pronounced "puh-lay-dee-um") is a precious metal in the platinum group on the periodic table. In fact, most palladium is manufactured during platinum extraction. Just like platinum, its pure form is used to make jewelry because of its natural whiteness. Palladium is the whitest metal available for jewelry manufacturing, so you won't experience the dulling or darkening you might experience with other white metals that aren't as pure or as white.  A lot of white gold is made white by adding palladium to it.  Of course overtime this will fade back to yellow, which makes palladium a much better choice over white gold.

Palladium is naturally hypoallergenic and ideal for those with sensitive skin.  It doesn't contain any nickel, which is the most common metal allergy.  We use palladium PD 950 which contains 95% pure palladium and no nickel. Palladium as a metal performs much like platinum, providing an extreme durability and timeless beauty, all at a much affordable price.

Palladium Rings Online is proud to offer a great selection of palladium rings.  We are adding more palladium rings to our site monthly so if you don't see the style you are looking for just contact us and we will let you know if we can produce the model you are looking for.  Palladium is a fairly new metal used in the jewelry industry.  Palladium as you might expect comes from the same metal family as platinum.  The biggest difference between platinum and palladium is the weight of the metals.  Palladium weight is closest to that of 14 karat gold.  This gives you a great cost alternative to platinum without giving up the brilliant white luster.  In fact, palladium is actually slightly whiter than platinum.  When put side by side it is hard to see the difference but under a microscope palladium wins out as the whites metal.

The palladium rings offered through Palladium Rings Online can be worn by both men or woman.  If you don't know what width to get a safe bet is that anything 6mm and under would look great on a woman and anything 6mm a wider would look great for a man.  Of course personal preference wins out over all, this is just a guide if you don't know how wide your band should be.  Sometimes someone with a small finger might want to make a bold statement and go with a thick 10mm band, while most of the time people with small fingers go with a smaller 4mm band.
